Vibe Coding Offers Fast Prototypes

The subtle risks of ignoring the steps of the ladder: why speed-to-prototype tools can't replace human thinking and careful requirement analysis

Statements like these make me think how fast technology has moved in recent years.

We can go from image to "something working" in minutes.

But at the same time, what are we losing in the process?

The Journey Matters

The output is not the only outcome—there's so much to learn in the journey.

I'm a big fan of these tools. v0, for instance, is one of my favorites. But I can't unsee the risk of considering "ready" what it produces.

Questions We Can't Skip

While clicking one button, did they:

  • Understand the use case and all the requirements needed by the client?
  • Identify edge cases or problems with the requirements?
  • Stop, think, and iterate over the needs of users?

The Human Element

So much goes into the human thinking process. We use it to:

  • Learn from the problem
  • Better understand what we're doing
  • Remove the noise of needless features

The speed is impressive, but wisdom comes from the work itself.
